  • Purpose: This Research Fellow (RF) will engage stakeholders in applied high-quality evidence-based research, policy analysis, public outreach and capacity building. The Fellow will help CPRO influence public policy as a leading think tank in the greater Central Asia region to strengthen WIUT as an international research university, and grow its portfolio of research. Individuals with a strong commitment to applied research and outreach in public policy are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

·         Co-design, plan and undertake anticipatory research on cross-border and greater regional issues such as sustainability, regionalism, connectivity, energy, trade, natural resources, etc.

·         Develop complementary products, timely policy briefs and internationally indexed peer-reviewed publications

·         Conduct interdisciplinary futures research and use futures tools supporting WIUT’s proposed UNESCO Chair in Anticipatory Governance and Sustainable Policy Making

·         Research should have local, regional, and international relevance; using a diverse range of innovative research approaches and methods

·         Leverage existing links with regional and international research and outreach partners

·         Strengthen and form relationships with different stakeholders

·         Generate external sponsorship for research and outreach activities

·         Collaborate and publish research with lecturers and local and international co-authors

·         Through interdisciplinary research, increase CPRO’s ‘think-tank’ footprint, influencing policy, implementation, and the way policy is made and how people participate

Requirements

• Earned / near completion of internationally recognized doctorate in a relevant discipline such as development economics, public policy, a specific sector, area studies or futures studies on governance

• Relevant professional/research experience on Central Asia / Silk Road countries

• Demonstrated capacity in policy research and analysis

• A record of indexed international peer-reviewed publications in English

• Fluent in English (Russian desired), excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong experience revising, editing, and proofreading for international publication

• Proficiency in quantitative, qualitative, and futures research and analysis methods

• Demonstrated contribution to successful grant writing leading to sponsored research
