Purpose:
✔ To assist the System Administrator in maintaining the reliable and uninterrupted operation of WIUT’s IT infrastructure, including local networks, servers, network devices, system software and user accounts, while providing technical support to staff and ensuring the security and accessibility of IT resources. The Assistant of the System Administrator works within the Information Technology Department and supports the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the University’s IT infrastructure. The role involves assisting with the installation and configuration of system software, management of user accounts and access rights, data backup and archiving, troubleshooting, and coordination of equipment repairs and network installations with external service providers. The position also provides technical assistance to WIUT staff in using network and system applications.
Responsibilities
Provide first-line technical support to staff and students.
Install, configure and maintain computers, laptops, printers and other IT equipment.
Assist with user account creation, password resets and access permissions.
Assist with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 user administration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computing, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Work experience in administrative positions
- Good interpersonal and social skills
- Ability to work under time pressure and good team worker
- Knowledge of English, Uzbek and Russian
- Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Basic understanding of computer networks, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and Wi-Fi.
- Basic knowledge of Active Directory and user account management.
- Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting PCs, laptops, printers and other IT equipment.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft 365/Office applications and email systems.
