Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Internal Communications

  • To design, develop, and implement the University’s internal communication strategy, focusing on students and other internal stakeholders.
  • To coordinate with the Student Support Department, Schools, the Academic Registrar, International Department, the Students’ Union, and HCMD to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely communication of key information.
  • To create and disseminate the content (videos and REELS, articles, publications, news and other type of content) through WIUT’s internal communication channels and other sources to maintain positive reputation and image of the university, as well as to inform WIUT community on the major news and updates.
  • To plan and manage internal communication campaigns and activities that support student engagement, academic processes, and institutional priorities.
  • To manage the internal communication channels of WIUT on social networks (Instagram, Telegram, Threads, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • To monitor University-managed platforms (West TV, student apps, intranet, newsletters, social media), ensuring clarity, accuracy, and accessibility of information.
  • To provide timely and effective responses to communication crises or sensitive issues, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with University values.
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of communication campaigns and recommend improvements.
  • To be involved in planning and preparation of University activities including those conducted in student dormitories.

Public Relations

  • To promote WIUT’s achievements, contributions, and events to the internal community through appropriate communication channels.
  • To support the development of the University’s public profile by building positive relationships with students, staff and other WIUT community.
  • To implement and coordinate the University’s internal social media strategy, ensuring messaging supports WIUT’s reputation and objectives.
  • To prepare communication materials such as news articles, media kits, features, and official statements.
  • Monitor social media and other communication platforms daily; identify, escalate, and respond to comments or misinformation to safeguard WIUT’s reputation and image.
  • To monitor social and traditional media coverage of the University, addressing misinformation and ensuring timely response to emerging issues.
  • To ensure consistent brand messaging across all PR and communication materials.

General

  • To contribute to the activities of the Marketing and Communications team.
  • To undertake other duties as required by the Head of Marketing and Communications Director of Administration

Requirements

PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A first degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • High-level proficiency in English (oral and written), with the ability to draft professional communication materials.
  • Skills in mobilography (mobile video shooting, mobile video editing), and in copywriting (English, Uzbek).
  • Competency in Uzbek and Russian, with excellent oral and written skills in both languages.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in communications or public relations, preferably within higher education or a similar organization.
  • Evidence of skills in mobilography, communication planning, content development, copywriting and media/social media management.
  • Experience in managing communication crises or handling sensitive external messaging.
  • Experience in building relationships with media outlets or public agencies is desirable
